On Saturday, March 27, twelve Jacksonville area residents representing Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax) travelled to Tucurrique, Cartago, Costa Rica to work with Habitat para la Humanidad Costa Rica. We worked to build a house for a family with three children. Here is an account of our time in Costa Rica and some pictures of our experiences.

Los Hijos... Perspective

LILY
Hola
I really like our bus.  It was an incredibly beautiful drive and I really enjoyed hanging outside the window even though I might be sin cabeza.  However, this lovely bus has no restroom. So my favorite part of the day was when Mrs. Boswell and I had to use the bano and we stopped at a little stand on the side of the road.  Sra Berrios kindly asked the lovely older lady if we could maybe use her restroom and she happily agreed! We got to chat with her a little and look in her adorable little house with the tiny canary cages.  It was cool meeting an actual Costa Rican and she expressed interest in our mission.  She has a handicapped grandson so maybe Habitat will build her a house someday.
